Disaster Recovery Support

Examples of how support from the Wesleyan Foundation For Men can impact the community include outreach ministries like the Rio-Texas UMC Disaster Response Team.

One of the resources they provide is the “Connecting Neighbors” training which is an adaptable training program designed to help individuals and churches prepare for disasters.

Divided into three modules, it can help:

· Individuals to prepare themselves and their families for disasters.

· Church Leaders to protect their facilities, and to prepare to be a resource to their community after a disaster.

· Congregations decide how they can best reach out to those who have been affected by disasters in their own community.

Eugene Hileman – Disaster Response

There are significant benefits from developing a community-based Christian Response Team, certified through ERT (Emergency  Response Training). Prepared teams can quickly launch into action taking safe, proven steps to provide relief and valuable assistance immediately after a disaster. Understanding what to do, when to take action and most especially – what NOT to do delivers the best support for emergency response needs in a safe, ordered process.
